Great apartment in the heart of one of Barcelona's gothic neighbourhoods, El Borne
The Calder apartment is a great choice for any visitor to Barcelona looking for style and location in their accommodation. Modern decor but also warm and welcoming the Calder aparmtent, as you can see in the photos above, is a completely renovated apartment; modern, welcoming and comfortable, a truly great apartment!
The area surrounding the apartment:
The Calder apartment is situated in one of the trendier parts of town which is called El Borne, one of Barcelona's gothic quarters. This area is lively, full ot atmosophere as well as many wonderful boutiques and many excellent cafes, bars and restaurants that our guest can choose from.
The apartment itself is close to the Santa Maria del Mar gothic church and Paseo del Born. From here the visitor can easily make their way to the Picasso Museum, the Cathedral and the old port and many other areas of interest.
The apartment:
The apartment itself has been refurbished with a blend of modern and rustic elements. The lovely hardwood floor throughout the apartment gives a great feeling of warmth to the Calder. The nicely preserved, exposed wooden beams in the ceiling, which are also very typical in Barcelona, give the apartment its authentic touch.
The living/dining room of this apartment is furnished with modern yet comfortable furniture. The living area is a great place to hang out and relax after a hard day of "touristy stuff" or good for chilling out before heading off to one of the Barcelona's many culinary hot spots. The sofa in this area can be used as a comfortable sofa bed (1.60x2.00) for the 3rd and 4th guests. Off to the side you will also find the dining table and four chairs should you decide to eat in one night...
The kitchen is modern and comes fully equipped with all the mod cons necessary to make your visit to Barcelona a smooth and hassle fee one.
The bathroom has lovely mosaic tiling, and is very chic, modern, and fresh; it comes with fresh towels ready for your use upon arrival.
The Calder apartment is in a wonderful location, it is modern, welcoming and comfortable. It has also been decorated with a lot of thought. Throughout the apartment you will find touches of the artistic history of Barcelona. There are many reproductions by great artists such as Picasso, Chillida, Calder himself and Miró on the walls. In the bedroom you find an armchair designed by the arquitect Torres Clavé (1906-1939) - created for the Spanish Pavillion at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1937. In the same room there is also a reproduction of a ceramic sculpture made by Fidel Aguilar (1894-1917). The dining table is illuminated by a lamp designed by the Japanese sculptor Isamu Noguchi in the 50s.
